Effective January 1, 2011, five new military plates will be available to active, retired, and honorably discharged military members who reside in Alabama. These tags will represent the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, and Navy men and women who have proudly served our country in the past and are serving in the present. The plates are may be issued to passenger vehicles, pickup trucks, and pleasure motor vehicles. The additional cost is $3.00 when a metal plate is issued. The net proceeds are distributed to base in accordance with the provisions of Sections 40-12-269, Code of Alabama.
Effective January, 2010, the US Marine Corp will be issuing a plate that will be available to all residents of Alabama who are active, retired, or honorably discharged veterans of the US Marine Corps. These plates have an additional issuance fee of $3.00 for active Marines and $25.00 for Marines who are retired or honorably discharged. the proceeds are distributed to the Department of Alabama Marine Corps League.
